Medical Support Assistant (MSA) – Central Texas
Contract Length: 6-month contract with the potential for extension up to 1 year

Emerging Tech is seeking Medical Support Assistants (MSAs) to support the Central Texas VA Health Care System. This is an excellent opportunity to serve Veterans while working in a professional and supportive healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate is a good listener, organized, adaptable, outgoing, and an excellent problem solver. This vital role greets patients, demonstrates professionalism, and maintains confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Lead MSA, MSA Supervisor, and Administrative Officers to ensure quality control, coordinate activities, and meet all VA scheduling policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
Collaborate with the Lead Scheduler and scheduling and reception teams to ensure consistent, professional representation of the VA.
Communicate with internal medical providers regarding VA Community Care rules, regulations, and appropriate processes.
Schedule, track, and coordinate patient appointments and referrals in accordance with VA guidelines.
Update patient demographics and process health and administrative information in VA systems including CPRS, VistA, HSRM, PPMS, CTM, and others.
Utilize Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams on a daily basis.
Respond to patient and provider inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to support care coordination and consult processing.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience.
Previous clinical or healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Strong oral and written English communication skills.
Typing speed of at least 50 WPM.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Must live within 50 miles of Central Texas VA facilities.
